Stars Over the Mountain: A Premium Stargazing Experience

Stars Over the Mountain is a four-hour immersive stargazing experience hosted at Hafeet Mountain, Al Ain, designed for families, tourists, students, and anyone curious about the night sky. Set against the dark mountain backdrop, this program transforms a simple evening outdoors into a structured journey through astronomy, storytelling, and interactive exploration.
Rather than a single lecture-style event, the experience is carefully designed around multiple interactive stations. Guests rotate between activities, allowing everyone to engage deeply while maintaining a smooth and enjoyable flow throughout the evening.
A Guided Journey Through the Night Sky
The evening begins with a dedicated Sky Orientation & Constellation Tour. As the lights dim, a laser pointer traces the patterns of the visible constellations across the sky. Guests are guided in identifying major stars such as Polaris, Betelgeuse, and Sirius, while learning how to determine north and south using the stars themselves.
Stories from ancient cultures — including Greek and Arab astronomical traditions — bring the constellations to life. With coordinated lighting and ambient astronomy audio in the background, this 15–20 minute session creates a powerful and memorable introduction to the night sky.
Seeing the Universe Through Professional Telescopes
At the Telescope Viewing Station, guests rotate between professional astronomical equipment for close-up observation of celestial objects.
Depending on visibility and timing, observation targets may include -Deep Sky Objects – Orion Nebula, Andromeda Galaxy, star clusters, Hercules, etc.
Short explanations accompany each viewing, ensuring guests not only see these objects — but understand what they are observing. Binoculars are also available for wide-field exploration of the sky.
Capturing the Night: Astrophotography in Action
The experience goes beyond observation. During the Astrophotography Demonstration, participants learn how to photograph the night sky using a smartphone and tripod setup.
Guests receive practical guidance on capturing the Moon or visible constellations, giving them a lasting visual memory of the evening.
